ALABAMA ROT

ALABAMA ROT

Also known as CRGV (Cutaneous and Renal Glomerular Vasculopathy) Alabama Rot is very serious and a potentially life threatening disease which has recently been diagnosed as a flesh eating disease.  The cause is still unknown.

Alabama Rot has been reported in Hertfordshire as well as other Counties across England. It seems to be more prevalent in forest and woodland locations.

What are the early signs of Alabama Rot?
• Marks, sores, ulcers or lesions on the skin
• Skin ulcers / lesions appear on the pads, paws or legs but could also appear anywhere on the body.

Spotting that your dog has the first possible signs of Alabama Rot and seeking immediate medical assistance could help with their chances of survival!

Preventive steps; Keep your dog away from very muddy areas and wash you dogs legs and paws after walks especially if they get wet or muddy.
